It's possible to get to Machu Picchu by train from Cusco. But many people
choose to hike there on the Inca Trail. I believe that the impression that
is made by Machu Picchu is very different for people that choose these two
different methods of visiting.
By hiking the Inca Trail you can see several major sets of Incan ruins. Also,
the Inca Trail winds through a spectacular stretch of the Andes Mountains. The
three day hike is not only enjoyable in its own right, but the anticipation of
seeing Machu Picchu makes the first glimpse of the place all the more special.
It's really a matter of opinion, but I still believe the Inca Trail and
Machu Picchu is some of the most beautiful scenery of anywhere in the world.
The following photos of the Inca Trail are shown in the order in which they were
taken to show the changes in scenery encountered during the hike. And from my
perspective, the scenery and beauty of the trail and the Incan ruins only got
better as we went along.
I hope you enjoy my photos of the Inca trail to Machu Picchu in Peru.
