There were 13 hikers that hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu on this trip.
There were 5 Americans (including me), 2 people from Spain, 3 from Argentina,
1 from Sweden, and 2 from the UK - a good international mix.
Some people have referred to the Inca Trail as the Inca "Trial". It's not an
easy hike. The elevations are relatively high and there are some long uphill
grades.
During our trek, 5 of our group encountered a bit of altitude sickness
consisting of headache and nausea. If you think you might be prone to this,
I'd suggest you have your doctor prescribe diamox, which can be taken prior
to the hike to prevent symptoms. However, for people of reasonably good physical
condition, the Inca Trail is a pleasurable hike through the very scenic Andes
Mountains.
If you're interested in more information about the hike, you can read my
travelogue.
I hope you enjoy my photos of the Andes Mountains in Peru.
