The photos on these pages are from a trek in the Andes Mountains of Peru and also
an Amazon River boatride to explore the Amazon basin. This trek in the Andes,
was on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. It's absolutely beautiful and provides
the opportunity to see many additional Incan ruins while hiking the Andes
in what must be
one of the most beautiful places on earth. Although it's said to be
crowded, the trail is hiked in one direction only. With everyone
moving in the same direction, you don't encounter as many people, making it
seem uncrowded.
In addition to photos of Cusco, Peru, the Inca Trail,
and Machu Picchu, this site also has photos of Ollantaytambo, Peru
and photos of Pisac, Peru. Both of these towns in the Andes Mountains in
Peru have
beautiful Incan ruins to explore and provide a glimpse of how rural Peruvians
live.
The trip along the Amazon River began at Iquitos, Peru, an
interesting jungle town. There are no roads into Iquitos,
so the only ways into Iquitos are by boat on the Amazon River or by
airplane. From Iquitos, several days by riverboat on the Amazon River
takes passengers to Letticia,
Columbia. These trips
stop along the way to explore the Amazon jungle and little villages in the
Amazon basin. The combination of hiking in the Andes Mountains and
exploring the Amazon jungle makes Peru a great adventure travel destination.
The companies used for this Andes trek and Amazon riverboat
trip can be found in the "You can too!" link at the top of the page.
